the knowledge of this office that the Aide-de-Camp to

the Governor of Hong Kong was regarded as in his

private employ and not in the payment of the Colonial

Government, nor is the statement to that effect in Er.

Just's letter to this Office of 5th April 1909

understood.

I am therefore to suggest that Secretary the Earl

of Crewe should, if he still considers that the revenues

of the Colony can not be held liable, direct that the

contributions should be defrayed from Imperial funds.

I am to add that the claim preferred by the

Comptroller, India Treasuries, on Captain Taylor

included contribution for Indian leave pay, but in

accordance with paragraph 13 of the memorandum enclosed

in the letter from this Office of the 14th April 1904,

service in the Colonies is not now regarded as counting

towards Indian leave, and no contribution on that

account will be necessary. The amount due for pension

contribution down to the 31st March 1910 is 3316.17.9,

calculated
